Curriculum

St Anne’s remains committed to providing a balanced education for all pupils which follows the national curriculum, whilst also allowing opportunities for personalised learning. Pupils follow an individually tailored timetable that allows them to undertake courses that are appropriate to their individual needs, abilities, past achievement and future aspirations.

In addition all pupils follow a course leading to the award of ASDAN’s Certificate of Personal Effectiveness (CoPE).

Each Pupil’s needs are met by a teacher, with a 2:1 ratio. Their Individual Education Plan contains agreed academic and behavioural objectives and targets, which are regularly monitored and updated by the key worker assigned to that pupil.

Pupils’ progress is regularly reviewed through teacher assessment and is reported formally via Weekly Review Reports and phone calls between the key worker and the pupil’s guardians. We also provide full End of Placement reports in line with the Common Assessment Framework guidelines.

Physical Education

We have recently partnered with John Ruskin College where some of our students participate in the "Clear Futures Programme", which is a sports and personal development BETC awarded at the end of the academic year of attendance. Pupils learn to develop team spirit and how to work together using football as a learning tool.

On Thursdays pupils are escorted to the "Sir Philip Game" Centre by our sports coach where they undertake their physical education in activities and sports such as badmington, kick boxing and judo.
